Senior Unix Shell/PERL Developer

Key Responsibilities:
Unix Shell/PERL Scripting:
Develop, test, and maintain Unix Shell and PERL scripts to automate and optimize system processes.
Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
Database Management:
Work with SQL, Hive, and Netezza DB to manage and manipulate data.
Write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction and analysis.
Implement and manage User-Defined Functions (UDF) for enhanced database functionality.
Agile Scrum Team Collaboration:
Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Collaborate with team members to define and prioritize tasks.
Ensure timely delivery of project milestones and deliverables.
Problem-Solving and Debugging:
Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
Perform hands-on debugging and root cause analysis.
Implement solutions to prevent the recurrence of issues.
Communication and Collaboration:
Communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and management.
Document technical specifications and other project-related documentation.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 6 years of experience in Unix Shell and PERL scripting.
Hands-on coding experience with advanced-level Unix scripting.
Experience working in Agile Scrum teams.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in SQL, Hive, and Netezza DB.
Knowledge of Java is a plus.
Experience with User-Defined Functions (UDF).
Strong debugging and analytical skills.
Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Mandatory Skills:
Advanced level Unix scripting.
Proficiency in Java.
Knowledge of NZ/Hive SQL.
Experience with User-Defined Functions (UDF).
Hands-on debugging and analytical skills.
Desired Skills:
Experience with Java development.
Familiarity with Agile Scrum methodologies.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
