Job Description:

  • Installation and configuration of databases: Install and set up database software, making sure it is properly configured and integrated with our applications.
  • Database maintenance: Monitoring and improving database performance on a regular basis while resolving storage, access, and data quality concerns.
  • Backup and recovery: Use effective backup and recovery techniques to protect crucial data and reduce downtime in the event of errors.
  • Security management: Enforce security measures to safeguard private information from unauthorised access and make sure that data privacy laws are followed.
  • Upgrades to database software should be planned and carried out with the least possible disturbance to business operations.
  • Data migration: Enable seamless data transfer between databases and systems while preserving data integrity.
  • Troubleshooting: To maintain a stable and dependable database environment, quickly locate and fix database-related problems.
  • Performance tuning: Through query optimisation, index management, and other tuning methods, improve the performance of databases.
  • Forecasting: Forecast database growth and resource needs is a key component of capacity planning.
  • Documentation: Keep thorough records of all database configurations, operations, and processes.
  • Collaboration: To solve the needs and worries linked to databases, collaborate with developers, IT teams, and other stakeholders.

Required Skills:

  • Proven Experience: Managing databases in a production environment for at least 7-10 years as a database administrator.
  • Working knowledge of a variety of RDMS, including MySQL DB (Mandatory); Oracle, SQL Server,  PostgreSQL etc. And NoSQL DBs including –  GraphDB, Redis, MongoDB, Cassandra, Couchbase, etc.
  • Strong comprehension of backup and recovery techniques to safeguard important data.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a closely related profession.
  • Proficiency in data manipulation languages, including MS SQL, Oracle Database, Hadoop, or PostgreSQL, NoSQL.
  • Knowledge of best practices for database security, such as access control, encryption, and vulnerability management.
  • Knowledge of performance monitoring and adjusting to enhance database performance.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities are required to properly troubleshoot and fix database-related problems.
  • For interactions with team members and stakeholders, you’ll need strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Adaptability: The capacity to handle several tasks at once and adjust to changing demands.
