Software Engineer (Production Support and Application Development)

Roles and Responsibilities:
Production Support:
Provide production support for AMD’s business-critical applications, ensuring smooth operation and minimal downtime.
Monitor and troubleshoot issues in real-time, using Linux/Unix systems to diagnose and resolve production issues efficiently.
Debugging and problem-solving skills are essential to quickly identify the root cause of issues and implement fixes.
Work in cross-functional teams to ensure the application meets business and technical requirements.
Collaborate with stakeholders, business owners, and developers to communicate status updates and address concerns.
Track and resolve incidents through JIRA or similar ticketing systems, ensuring prompt updates and resolution timelines.
Application Development:
Develop and enhance applications using Python for both backend logic and scripting, ensuring scalability and performance.
Utilize UI development skills, which may include experience with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, to support front-end development and application interfaces.
Work with RDBMS databases like MySQL or PostgreSQL to build, optimize, and maintain application data structures.
Utilize containerization tools like Docker for application packaging and deployment.
Implement and maintain REST APIs for interaction between services and external systems.
Use Git for version control and collaboration within the development team.
Collaboration & Communication:
Maintain excellent communication skills to effectively interact with stakeholders, business owners, and development teams.
Participate in daily stand-ups, providing regular updates on development tasks, production support issues, and progress toward goals.
Lead or participate in weekly business owner meetings, ensuring all parties are aligned on project priorities and timelines.
Adhere to existing project processes and workflows, ensuring updates are reflected in JIRA tickets and other relevant tools.
Mandatory Skills:
Linux/Unix proficiency: Expertise in Linux/Unix environments, especially for debugging and production support.
Python Development: Strong hands-on experience with Python for both scripting and application development.
UI Development: Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, or other front-end development frameworks.
Database Knowledge: Experience with RDBMS databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
Containerization Tools: Familiarity with Docker for managing and deploying applications.
Version Control: Proficient with Git for source control and team collaboration.
API Development: Knowledge of RESTful services and APIs.
Communication Skills: Strong communication skills for interacting with stakeholders, team members, and participating in meetings.
